Taiwo A. Togun
Taiwo A. Togun, Ph.D. is an Innovation Consultant with the African Center for Innovation & Leadership Development and a former Research Scientist with the University of California, San Francisco. He is co-founder and CEO of SeqHub, a company that serves the genomics space by match-making and connecting the untapped supply of Data Scientists with research labs that need help analyzing their genomics data. Dr. Togun holds a faculty position at Pierrepont School, Connecticut, where he teaches Computer Science and Mathematics to middle and high school students. He is also a Senior Apprentice and Data Science instructor with the A100 apprenticeship program, which trains and prepares aspiring software developers (college and graduate students) through hands-on experience on real products for real companies in Connecticut. Dr. Togun earned a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Information Systems from the University of West Alabama, Livingston, AL; a Master’s degree and a PhD in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics from Yale University. His research focused on computational methods to identify candidate genomic therapeutic targets in cancer; he continues to engage in scientific research as co-founder and analytics consultant of SeqWise Next Generation Sequencing Consulting, LLC, where the company’s current project seeks to employ DNA sequencing data for non-invasive pre-natal diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities. Dr. Togun enjoys, and is committed to translating findings from research studies into practical applications to improve public health, as well as developing innovative ways to transform scientific knowledge into avenues that can serve everyday needs.
