Nutrido Boardgame

ACILD developed a nutrido board game, which is a game based educational tool to teach children to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The board game comes with a stack of playing cards, dice, playing pieces, play money and a list of rules. The game feature different types of foods (locally available) ranging from healthy to unhealthy (e.g., cabbages, carrots, and oranges to fries and sodas) with differing point values, equivalent to its nutritional value, and blurbs with nutrition lessons that must be heeded to advance in the game. Players must navigate scenarios such as choosing whether to purchase a healthy meal or an unhealthy meal or landing on an action card that requires them to perform physical activity exercises (e.g., “Do 10 push-ups”). The board games are used during the nutrido clubs to help students gain an in-depth knowledge on health, nutrition, fitness, finance and growing their own organic farms. Students are introduced to new terms and, they are also given the nutrido Quiz to recall what they learn during games
