Innovation Scaling Program
ACILD Scaling Innovation program create bold innovations to improve health, nutrition and food security in Africa. A major factor for poor agricultural innovation adoption in Africa is the decreasing effectiveness of traditional agricultural extension which predominantly focuses on awareness creation. To connect farmers directly to a variety of agriculture stakeholders, ACILD developed a mobile application called my Extension Officer. The goal of the innovation is to improve farmer engagement and also to enhance agricultural productivity.
My extension officer have helped to improve communication access for more than 7000 farmers in Makueni County, Kenya.
Our Collaboration with the NTDs Division, Federal Ministry of Health
The African continent, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, bears the greatest burden of infectious disease and neglected tropical diseases. The World Health Organization has proposed some intervention measures to prevent and eliminate certain diseases. For instance the mass distribution of drugs (MDA) is one of the major interventions recommended by the World Health Organization for the control of NTDs. However, the effective implementation of this intervention in Nigeria continues to be a challenge. ACILD is currently in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and the Osun State University to provide innovative and scalable solutions for the control of Neglected Tropical diseases such as Schistosomiasis in Nigeria.
